When I was working at a family restaurant in IL, a man asked what was in a particular dish. I wasn't sure so I asked my manager and it said it's a vegetable dish. So I told that to my customer, and he ate it and started to feel sick. The other customers who ordered it were not sick, but then he said it must have been made with meat of some sort. I appologized and he cussed me out very loudly. As a server I do not prepare the meals and serve what is ordered and find out what is in the dish as much as possible. I continuously appologized but the man was nothing short of a loud, rude, profane jerk.
I have not ridiculed anyone for choosing not to eat meat. However I think alot of vegans take themselves and their eating habits too seriously and project them onto others without warrant. Kinda like gays and christians.

I've only once been ridiculed in person (though plenty of people find it acceptable in a forum like this tp ridicule vegetarians.) To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever tricked me into eating meat; if so it would have to have been well-disguised.

I used to be a vegetarian and believe me, it is HARD being a Chinese vegetarian. I was ridiculed all the time by my mom but she never forced me to do anything I didn't want to do. I did force myself on occasion to eat meat thrown on my plate at Chinese family gatherings. Sorry, but I have to put respect for my family and culture before a chicken.

No, but some people interrogate me sometimes. If they do this, I usually ignore it, or just say "why can't I be a vegetarian," or "why DO you eat meat?" I'm buddhist, and all interrogaters have been christians. Apparently, they believe that animals are made for human consumption, but I'm not saying Christianity is bad, the people in the religion can be a pain though sometimes...

No, not on purpose. I went to my neighbors house for dinner once. Their daughter is vegetarian but she eats chicken, so they assumed that so would I. They gave us a cucumber soup that had chicken broth in it and they didn't tell us untill afterwards, and once at an international buffet, they forgot to mention that something wasn't vegetarian.
Occasionally people will find out that I am vegan and avoid me, assuming I will think they are horrible for eating meat, which is not true.
