Every year I have done a Halloween party for my children with all their friends. My daughter is 9 so that equals 10 screaming 9 year old girls running around and my son is 11 so thats 10 boys running around. Other years I have done mini pumpkin carving, crafts, pin the bowtie on the skelton, fishing for treats in jello etc you get the idea younger things to occupy the kids. This year I am all out of ideas of how to prevent out and out mayhem for three hours.

3 hours? You're either brave or crazy! Maybe do scary stories followed by a trip through your haunted back yard??? Girls against the boys games, break the kids up into teams and play games like wrap the mummy (lots of toilet paper around 1 team member until they resemble a mummy) whoever finishes first wins. Maybe have them find all the pieces of a skeleton and assemble it. Good luck! And don't forget the food, lots of it!!!

I would do a hayride followed by a bonfire with everyone getting to roast weiners and toast marshmallows and make S'mores. Then while everyone is sitting around the campfire, I would tell ghost stories. You could even do the continuous ghost story - where you start the story and everyone takes a turn adding a bit to the story.
You could also try showing a Halloween-themed movie - like "Hocus Pocus" (nothing too gory) with movie theater type treats.

HALLOWEEN PARTY COOKIES
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. white wheat flour
1 c. quick oats
1 c. Bran Flakes cereal
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. Place by teaspoonfuls several inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
HALLOWEEN PARTY TREATS
Fill clear plastic food-handlers gloves with popped popcorn. Tie off opening with orange or black yarn. Place a spider ring or sticker on finger and serve. Place bugs or spiders (the plastic ones) in your ice trays before freezing. Serve in orange or uncola pop. Cut bananas in half, place on a popsicle stick and dip in melted chocolate chips. Chill. Serve.
MONSTER MASH HALLOWEEN PARTY MIX
10 c. popped popcorn
1 (16 oz.) bag plain M & M's
1 (14 oz.) jar peanuts
1 c. raisins
1 c. Reese's pieces
Mix and enjoy. Makes 15 cups.

um tri doing games in the dark like hide and seek!
musical chairs in the dark or ghosts in the grave yard this is how u play:2 people have to go in a room while the other people hide some where and the people in the room look for some one and the kids that r hiding they can scare the kids that r looking

take them into some nearby woods and play wide games
some examples
you hold a bright torch.... gaffer/duct tape groups of 2/3/4/5 peoples hands together and then run away from them.
have races like piggy backs, three legged race etc but in the dark.
have a water fight (in the dark) just buy some of those reflective bick vests and you will be seen if you don't hide.
chose which ever one you like and then make it halloween themed.

How about painting sugar pumpkins (cute, small round ones) w/ tempra paint.
Decorate their own cupcakes or sugar cookies. Have plain cupcakes or cookies, and icing, sprinkles, candy corn, red hots, or other decorations. Let them decorate to their heart's content.
Make bats out of coffee filters, scrunched up in the middle w/ a clothespin, then painted black.

how about some music to dance to or a scary movie marathon with creepy looking food, and get them invovled in maybe decorating their own cupcakes or something :)
