I forgot to put it in the fridge last night, but the temperature was down to about 50 degrees last night so it was cool.

by the smell u will come to know whether its gone bad or not. if it smells sour pour extra water and keep it aside for few hrs .after that the water will float on batter just drain the water out the sourness will go then u can make dosas.

The sour smell also stinks a bit when it is bad, and also it gets further blown up in size due to further fermentation .

I think it should be ok - in India they do put it out for sometime to ferment to give it a good taste - so u did the right thing!

EXCELLENT FLUFFY DOSAI WILL BE THE RESULT OF THE FERMENTATION...TASTE THE DOUGH..IF BITTER ITS REALLY SPOILT..
