They told me they were testing for anaemia etc... but I feel I should have an STD test at some point. However, like many people Im scared to do so. If I knew the normal FBC test probably ruled out the chance of HIV it would give me more confidence. Any help what-so-ever would be appreciated.

FBC stands for Full Blood Count

It would not test for HIV. It tests for haemoglobin, white cell count (infection fighting cells) and platelets (clotting cells)

It goes by many other names too: CBE (complete blood examination) and other things.

no it absolutely would NOT. i also had an abortion and they tested my hemaglobin, gave me a full pelvic exam, and asked if i had been tested for chlamydia or gonorrhea in the past 3 months. i said no so they automatically tested me.

the only true blood test that will rule out the chance of having HIV is an HIV blood test. :)

i have routine blood work done all the time due to being on crazy medication, that comes back perfect, and i still have worries in the back of my mind that there is some possible chance of HIV infection (slim to no chance) and i KNOW that the only true way to know is to have the test. just have to get up the courage to do it!

good luck - speak to your doctor or go to a clinic!

Im a Leo and it says I attract a Capricorn When down to earth, responsible, loyal Capricorn meet you, they've met their match. You are as ethical as Capricorn, and they respect your values. You are also able to be a loyal and caring partner to your Capricorn, even when times are tough. You are there to cheer up or motivate your Capricorn - which never goes unappreciated.

This is all your inherent doubts. You could have asked the surgeon this question, but if you are shy enough to ask that doctor have a second opinion. This mail answer will never satisfy you. you have to talk to a doctor face to face.
Nothing to worry.
