Oh my God, my grandmother knew this well and attended hundreds.. The soup is served; while eating the soup, the gefilte fish is placed on the table. While finishing the fish, the main course is delivered to the table. Eating desert is usually with coffee and a lot of loud chit chat. My grandmother always said chit chit, God rest her soul.
