I'm not a vegetarian, but I do love beans. Here's an interesting and tasty dish for a lunchbox.

Gently fry a medium onion and four cloves of garlic in olive oil in a pan. Don't let them brown. Add a thinly sliced red pepper and a couple of chillies (optional). Drain a small can of sweetcorn, a small can of red kidney beans and a small can of chick peas (alternatively soak and cook dried beans). Add a can of chopped tomatoes to the veg in the pan and bring to a simmer. Add some mild seasoned chilli powder, a little sugar or honey and black pepper along with a little splash of Balsamic vinegar and salt to taste. if you wish, add a little bit of oregano. Continue to simmer until most of the liquid has evapourated, then add the beans.

Warm several large wraps to soften them and spread each one with a little guacamole sauce or yoghurt. Add some shredded lettuce and in a line about two thirds along the diametre of each wrap and on top of this, place three or four desrtspoonfuls of the bean sauce. Turn the bottom of the wrap over the filling and then wrap over one of the sides and then roll the last one over to complete an open-topped parcel. These can now be wrapped in cling film and refrigerated when they are cold. Two make for a good lunch - hungry guys might want three. If you eat cheese, a light sprinkle of grated Cheddar is a nice addition before you wrap the whole thing up and that way, it's a good way to get some veg and beans into kids. I like a can of V8 vegetable juice with wraps like this, or even an ice-cold can of good quality lager beer (obviously not suitable in a worker's lunch-box), but it also goes really well with a cup of strong, sweet tea. Another idea would be to provide two wraps and a banana as the slow release of energy from the banana will help him through the working day - much better than a chocolate bar or a can of Coke.

I am an Industrial Hygienist, I've been trained in recommending diets for certain labor situations. More important than lots of protein is a well balanced meal. But to get extra protein in a vegan diet the recommendation is to eat plenty of nuts (especially almonds), soybean products (tofu packs a pretty good protein punch), and avocado dishes. Other recommended dishes include legume dishes and grains. Really protein is over emphasized, a good rate is 40-90 grams a day (picture 5-10 pennies). For healthy growth of hair, blood ,etc you need 20-40 grams/day. Remember to use your breaks effectively and do not skip them. Keep hydrated. Hope this helps.

There are many high protein vegetarian dishes. If you are looking for something with a lot of protein so you will feel satisfyed and have energy for a long time I would recommend tempeh. It can be sliced and browned in a little oil and then eaten with some vegan bbq sauce.

Another good choice would be a tofu dish such as carrot-tofu scramble. It is simply shredded carrots and tofu stir fried in sesame oil. The more tofu you add the more protein you would get.

Nuts or seeds are a good high protein snack as well.

It's very much about getting enough calories. Any bean and grain dish will be fine. Don't forget to eat your veggies. A couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread are a fine start. Apples are in season now in the northern hemisphere, they pack well for lunch.

Protein can be provided by eggs, nuts and pulses, tofu and quorn

Why not try an egg with baby spinach pasta salad with pine nuts and pesto

Or a quorn chicken style pieces with mushrooms, peppers and onions in a tortilla

Or a cheese and veggi sausage bap with tomatoes fab in the morning or after a night out

Fish, spinach, Calaloo, Peanuts (non salted),
Everything with dark green leafs and to maintain the protein levels its best to eat Raw

1-peanut butter, with milk or soymilk.
2-bean burrito (w/ cheese?)
3-(leftover) cheese pizza
4-grilled cheese with tomato, and french fries
5-soyburger and protein shake

6-oh yeah, and tempeh, i think it has the most protein (what he/she said!)

? dont really know, these are my guesses for what would have enough protein; i personally failed as a vegetarian manual worker--but get heart pains from meat and pork makes me fatter and slower and i'm already slow

Garbanzo bean soup is good. You can make a kind of a casserole from lentil beans that has the consistency of meat loaf. If you add the right spices, it can be delicious.

beans and rice, or soy products. If you combine beans with a grain, you will get a complete protein. soy is the only non animal product on earth that has a complete protein in it.

try homemade vegetarian cottage pie made with soya mince and vegi gravy. i make this all the tme . i love it, i also freeze it aswell. quorn and soya products are full of protein. vegetable nut crumble , excellent. i could go on for ever. l
