Explain to her: meat has steroids, antibiotics, filth, and it's just cruel to animals!! Meat can even cause cancer and heart disease! Tell her you're old enough to make your own discisions and that you can still get soy proteins. You can even offer to make veggie lamb, sold in many grocery, health, and veggie stores and supermarkets. Of course, say it politely and persuasively, telling how it may benifit everyone. She'll more likely agree.

I don't think it is fair of her to ask this..... having said this.. is there more to the story, such as is this a new fad? Some individuals pick up on things fairly quickly and if this is a new practice, she may not be taking you seriously.

If you are a vegan and have been for some time, I would sit down and share with your mom why you have chosen this and explain it isn't fair of her to make such a request of you. Offer to be present at the meal and share in the special time however you will pass on the meat dish.

You may find that speaking to her and explaining yourself will make her understand, and think more of you for being honest.

best of luck

Have you tried Quorn? It's suitable for vegans and comes in many different varieties, some of which are styled and flavoured to be very similar to meat (the 'chicken' nuggets and 'pork' sausages are a hit with my vegetarian little sister). Ask her if you can have Quorn lamb instead - you're keeping in the spirit of the family, but sticking to your own beliefs. Offer to cook it yourself if it'll sweeten the deal! Whatever happens, don't give in to her. What you believe is important.

stick to your beliefs, of course.
but to make things easier, try to explain (even if you have already) exactly why you are vegan and ask her to respect your decision. some good facts about the nutritional benefits of being a vegan may help too. tell her you aren't trying to be disrespectful, but that you feel morally obligated not to eat meat at all. i hope this helps!

eat it or say you are not hungry and get a small serving stuff it in a napkin while she is not looking then say there is a bone in your meat (pretend like ur chewing) go over to the garbage pretend to spit something out and throw ur napkin away at the same time. Then go get a another napki if you are smart get 2 before you sit down. I used this for esparagus when my mom forced me to eat it.

Put a small portion on your plate and eat around it? Slip it to the dog? Respect goes both ways. She could respect your need to avoid eating it.

I'm not advocating that you do this, but if someone intimidated me into eating meat, I would be very sick to my stomach! You could tell her that your barfing all over the table is much worse than your eating everything else and skipping the meat.

eat the lam.. then gag on it, run to the bathroom, and spit it out.

I don't know what your reasons are for not eating meat, taste or ethical? I do know that when I was forced to eat things I did not like I would practicly throw up.

Ask her to respect you and not insist that you do something you don't believe in. You can celebrate whatever tradition you are all sharing without you having to take in meat.
