You can pass it to someone else whether you have an outbreak or not (that's how my fiance and I got it!) In fact, according to Valtrex, 70% of people with genital herpes got it from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms of the virus, like an outbreak. It's called "shedding", when a person has no physical symptoms of the virus, but, can still pass it on to others.
And yes, it is possible for you to have got it from your boyfriend if he were to have gave you oral sex. If a person has a cold sore and gives another person oral sex, it can be spread to that person, causing them to get genital herpes. Herpes simplex virus 1 is typically cold sores, while herpes simplex virus 2 is typically genital herpes. I say "typically" because both herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 can cause both cold sores and genital herpes.
So yes, you are going to have to worry about passing it to someone else for the rest of your life. It is a virus and will not go away, even if you are not on an outbreak. Genital herpes can be spread whether you are on an outbreak or not.

State laws may differ but here you can go to the doctor without your parents knowing. You need to find out what you have - you said you're not positive. Hopefully you don't.
Yes, this is a permanent condition, it never goes away. However, some people only get outbreaks once every few years, other more often but have luck with suppressive therapy like Valtrex.
First: make sure you've got herpes. Second: take some medication to clear it up, valtrex or possibly another antiviral.
Third: then wait to see when your next outbreak hits
If you are going years without outbreaks, especially without taking suppressive therapy, it's unlikely you will pass it to your partner but you should still use condoms to be safe with all new partners. If you are in a committed relationship, you need to tell your partner that you carry the virus but don't have many outbreaks and together you can make the decision to use condoms or not.
FYI, I have several friends with herpes, they have both been married for years and neither of their husbands have gotten it. Once you find out how the virus affects you, you will recognize the signs of an outbreak coming on and find out whether you need to take suppressive medication.

In Arkansas, fourteen (14) is the age, medically, where the privacy act starts. You can see someone at the County Health Unit without your parents' consent here. (i freaked when I found that out!!) Herpes is forever. You always have the virus in your body whether you have a breakout or not. Valtrex is an awesome medicine to take for herpes. I had shingles (Herpes zoster??) and Valtrex cut the breakout time/pain in 5 days. Good luck... Use condoms (altho I couldn't imagine having sex with a breakout anyway).

Whether or not you can go to the doctors without your parents being informed depends on your age, but you need to do it anyway.
It's absolutely possible to get it as you described, and if you do test positive, it's not a question of only having it a little, you have it and will always have it. It will come back, there isn't a cure for it, only treatment. It's going to be a life long problem, but there are prescriptions you can take to minimize the risk of passing it on. You can't really "give it back" to your boyfriend, he already has it, but you can spread it to other areas.
This is why you must always, always be careful. Sex isn't something you can take lightly. Even if you've somehow dodged the bullet this time, you need to learn a lesson from this. If you do have it, it's time to take responsibility for your actions.

You will always have it, as thee is no cure. Medications on the market only prevent "flare ups", even though it appears to be gone it is still there, and even in this stage it is transferable to another. You should be able to see a doctor without your parents knowing, any planned parenthood type clinic, yes it can be transferred from mouth to vagina.
