Actually it might. I've read many doctors and even Merck and Co. (the company that makes the new vaccine Gardasil) have suggested women who already have HPV to get the vaccine.
The new vaccine targets 4 strains of HPV (types 6, 11, 16 and 18). Together, types 16 and 18 cause about 70% of all cervical cancer, while types 6 and 11 cause about 90% of all cases of genital warts. Since most people don't have all 4 types of HPV that the vaccine targets it's possible for a person to prevent getting any of the types they don't already have. It won't cure a person of the virus, it just might prevent them from getting a strain(s) they don't already have.
I have had HPV for over 5 years now. At 17 I devleoped cervical cancer from it and about 9 months ago I developed genital warts. I still plan on getting the vaccine. I know it won't cure me from HPV, but, it might prevent me from getting any of the 4 strains I don't already have.
Check out the last paragraph in this article from Merck and Co.:

No, that would be like taking the Chicken Pox vaccine after having the Chicken Pox. Its just too late.
However, right now its unknown if it might cut down on reoccurance and I would love to find that out. It would be an interesting item to know.

No, a vaccine is a dead or weakened virus to cause your immune system to make antibodies to it. If you have human papiloma virus already, it won't help to inject more viruses.

No, it's unnecessary to vaccinate yourself for something you already have. It's too late.
