The Americas had corn, beans, tomato, peppers, eggplant and wild game, including turkey. Europe had oats, peas, beans, and barley, like the song, parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, like the other song, and had domesticated sheep, goats, pigs, chicken, and cows. Milk, cheese, and butter were where there were cows. and eggs where ther were chickens. Ducks and geese were also eaten. Olives and grapes grew around the Mediterranean Sea.

Tomatoes are from the Americas, some people in Europe thought they were poisonous shortly after their introduction to Europe, others even thought they were an aphrodisiac. What I would like to know is what was southern Italian cuisine like before the introduction of the tomato?

probably Plum pudding (also known as Christmas pudding) has alcohol in it and is boiled. I believe it may go that far back. English descendants in America still have plum pudding at Christmas
