It depends. Healthier just because you don't eat meat...well, no. Healthier if they choose a well balanced diet...Yes. Red meats and such are so high in cholesterol. If you eat in moderation, watch or are at least aware of your intake of cholesterol, sodium's, fats you'll do fine, whether you are a meat eater or a vegetarian.
I love it, vegetarians are all pale? Well, I have noticed that most of the carnivores are over weight, big beer drinkers and smoke too much. I just hate when someone stereotypes someone because they do not agree with it.

I believe that healthy eating is mostly a function of moderation. Some vegetarians I know are super healthy, others are not. It's a choice that you have to be careful with.
For example, some vegetarians I know will have 4 hostess cupcakes, about 12 sodas, maybe some pretzels and a carrot stick for the day. Doesn't sound healthy to me.
Other's are very careful, getting a terrific balance of whole grain wheats, leafy vegetables, legumes (beans) peas, squash, fruit, etc in order to make sure they get all their vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber and carbs they need. Some stuff that humans need is found easily in meat, but is very difficult to find in vegetables and fruit, so getting the correct beans, soy food, edamame and tofu is important to them.
That sounds a lot healthier, right?
Some of my friends gained weight in college, and decided to become vegetarian in order to cut the weight that they made up for in beer. Not healthy.
Many though are vegetarian on principle. It isn't really for health reasons. To be your healthiest, you need a terrific balance. You can do that with meat (it is actually easier). To stay peak, it is more difficult to get all that your body needs as a vegetarian, but it can be done. Just make sure that if you decide to keep with meat, you don't go overboard one way or another. Only meat is really not that healthy either.
So, if this is on principle, you can stay healthy, but I wouldn't say healthier. If you just want to eat better, I would suggest go for more whole grain wheats, fruits, and vegetables (the more colorful your plate, the better), but don't eliminate meat, just don't overindulge, and watch the fat content.
Good luck

Most vegetarians who eat a balanced diet are much healthier than people who eat meat and have a lot of energy. The pale ones are those who don't eat sensibly - if you live on french fries and pepsi, yeah, you'll be unhealthy, but that's because you make dumb food choices, not because you don't eat meat.
Most vegetarians have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and fewer heart problems than meat eaters. Their teeth tend to be in better shape, too. And they just plain feel better!
Speaking of teeth, the notion that humans have teeth that mean they should eat meat is just garbage. Compare your teeth to your cats' teeth - not much similarity, is there? The four canine teeth (out of 32) humans have are not really well adapted for tearing flesh! They work fine for chewing veggies, though. And people who eat steaks or chicken nuggets use their molars to chew the meat - molars that are very much like the teeth most non-carnivorous animals have.

It depends on what your eating in place of meat. You still need to keep it balanced. If you do it right you will be healthier, in my case i lost 10 lbs just from not eating meat anymore. But I also still try to keep a balanced meal.

I really don't think so - personally. Of the 10 vegetarians I know, they are all pale, lack energy and stamina, lack muscle tone despite exercising, and have trouble eating in social situations or irritate people by forcing weird food decisions to meet their limited diet needs.

sure there may be benifits to vegetarianism or veganism, but the fact is that we are omnivorouse. Our bodies have been constructed to need things from both sides of the spectrum, so no matter how moral or non-artery clogging veganism is, you're still not healthier than us omnivores

nope, i was a vegetarian for 5 years, all that fake stuff they make that is supposed to be "like" meat is nothing near natural and has waaaay too much sodium in it. I guess its healthy if you only eat roughage and nuts....plus its more expensive.

Not if you look at my step dads' family. They have been vegetarians &/or vegans 80% of their lives. They are constanly walking around popping vitamins & SO FAR!!! One is dying of Leukemia, one dropped dead of a heart attack, one had diabetes & one cancer. SOUND HEALTHIER TO YOU???????
My step dad eats meat, eggs, cheese, ice cream, milk, etc. etc. etc. & he is as healthy as a 45 to 50 year old & he is 72!!!!!!!
