Remember you can't please everyone's palate. It is your child's birthday party so the food should be geared towards three year olds. They like to dip and eat with their hands. The two things that I would suggest is to steer away from pork and remember that many parents are very health conscious. Beef hot dogs on those little wooden forks (the wooden forks don't burn in the microwave) Fresh veggies and dip Fresh fruit and sweet yogurt dip Baked pita or naan with a savory yogurt dip Spinach dip with bread For the adults (and adventurous three year olds) make food that can be reheated easily and still taste good. The key is not too much meat in whatever dish you choose. One choice may be lasagna with hamburger and/or beef sausage, salad and bread. You could also integrate this with a Mexican lasagna. It is the same theory with soft tortillas, taco meat (it might be a good idea to use chicken here), refried beans, corn, cheese and salsa. Make sure you have sour cream! These are ideas that are healthy and homemade. If all else fails call Dominoes. Remember you can't even order really good pizza, the party is for a three year old!

Here are a few easy and good appetizers that kids would probably like too:
Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Franks
1 package mini hot dogs
1 bag premade meatballs (you can make your own)
1 bottle (12 oz) chili sauce (in the ketchup aisle...this is NOT hot sauce. I had someone make that mistake before.)
1 jar (10 oz) grape jelly
Heat chili sauce and jelly in pan over medium stirring constantly until jelly is melted. Add meatballs, franks and sauce and stir until coated. Serve in a crockpot set to low.
Chile ‘N Cheese Spirals – Appetizer
There are lots of versions of this recipe out there. This is how I make them.
Ingredients:
•2 – 8 oz packages cream cheese, softened
•1/2 – 3/4 cup sour cream
•1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
•½ cup (4 oz can) diced green chilies
•½ cup sliced green onions or chopped green pepper
•½ cup chopped red bell pepper
•½ cup (2-1/2 oz can chopped or sliced) black olives, chopped fine
•4-5 – 8-inch soft flour tortillas
Directions:
1.Beat cream cheese until relatively smooth with mixer or fork.
2.Stir in sour cream, cheese, chilies, onions, peppers and olives.
3.Spread approximately ¼ mixture onto each of the tortillas.
4.Roll up and wrap in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.
5.Slice into 1 inch pieces and serve with salsa, if desired.
You might also consider buffalo wings, which you can buy at the grocery (made by Tyson) and the little hot dogs wrapped in crescents (pigs in a blanket I think they call them and the kids love them).
You can have a fruit tray with a fruit dip. I make my fruit dip with 1 softened package cream cheese and 1 (16 ounce, I think) jar of marshmallow creme. Beat cream cheese with a mixer until very smooth. Beat in marshmallow and 1 teaspoon vanilla. A really yummy and easy fruit dip that goes well with canteloupe, grapes, strawberries, pineapple or whatever.

Don't let the birthday party get you down, you want to enjoy your sons 4th birthday instead of being tired and stressed.
You already have to offer
Cake
Vanilla Cupcakes
Veggie Tray
Try something simple if you want to go with hor'devores like salsa and chips, Ritz crackers with cheese and bacon bits, or just put out some Doritos, chips with dip, or chex mix.

Okay - since this is for your son's party - I would get those bags of frozen mini beef corndogs and fix those with mustard and catsup to dip. Adults will like them too. I would also fix some Bagel bites (mini pizzas) - kids & adults will like these. I would also add a fruit tray with a fruit dipping sauce. Good luck!

Lunchmeat wraps! Fast easy and every one loves ham and turkey..Here's what you need and how to do it..You will need flat out wraps (local walmart has them) then you lay it flat! put a couple of slices of lunchmeat on them and dressing if you like. Mayonaise, mustard etc. then cheese and tomato or lettuce then roll them up and cut into sections of 4 or 5. Fast, simple and easy.

both are roughly the same except when it comes to protein. EVERY veggies include a good amount of protein; fruits does not.
