A serious problem is that heart attack pain is not distinctive. Unless the heart attack is massive, the pain is easily ignored as indigestion or arthritic shoulder pain. While taking a history and examining a patient, doctors are trained to watch for "Levine's sign" where the patient clutches a clenched fist over the sternum while they describe the pain.
Here is a list from the website listed below
Warning signs of a heart attack:
In some, but not all, cases, the body will send warning signs that indicate a heart attack. These include:
uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing, pain, or discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts for more than two minutes. This pain may be persistent, or may go away and return.
pain or discomfort that spreads to the shoulders, neck, or arms
pain, sweating, nausea, or shortness of breath.
any chest discomfort that causes anxiety or concern
any chest discomfort that is accompanied by lightheadedness, fainting, or dizziness
any of the above symptoms that disappear with rest, then return with exertion
unexplained weakness or fatigue
palpitations, cold sweat, or paleness
Pain that lasts for 10 to 15 minutes while you are resting should also be evaluated immediately.

There are various degrees of a heart attache. Some experience a dull achy feeling that starts in (left )shoulder and will travel sometimes as far as two middle fingers, although usually will stop at elbow. Other complaints have been an extremely heavy feeling in chest that wont go away and worsens with taking a breath. Indigestion is another symptom. Shortness of breath. These are a few symptoms that people have described.

It is different for women that it is for men.
Men usually feel a numbness in their arms, or crushing chest pain, maybe even a toothache, depending on what part of the heart is effected.
I had and irregular heart beat that landed me in the hospital.
I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the cotton wood that was blooming since I have had allergies most of my life, I took an antihistamine and went to work after I went to the post office and picked up my mail.
I punched in at 5:02 am and shortly thereafter, passed out.
I thought to myself, this is odd, and tried to finish my job.
I looked up on the Internet about the heart and low and behold, my symptoms were the topic of discussion.
Women do not have the same sensations as men.
Most of us are unaware of what is going on until we wake up in the emergency room.
Thankfully, some of my fellow employees tried to call my daughter who I found out later was up all night with sick kids of her own.
When my fellow employees could not reach my daughter, Clark took me to the emergency room, thus saving my life.
Check with your local doctors or library if you are asking this for research.
The doctors should be more than willing to help you if it is for a class project.

I haven't had one (knock on wood) but I've read enough about it and had a few friends who had heart attacks. Symptoms of "Angina Pectoris" (heart attack) usually consists of sharp or dull pain around your upper left chest area and usually accompanied by some kind of numbness of the extremities and shortness of breath. Sometimes heart attacks have no apparent symptoms. Check out "Medlineplus.com" for complete and correct description.

Any time you have chest pain, you need to find out the cause. So I feel you should see a doctor. Noting your age, I may add... a cousin of mine in his early 20's was having chest pain. His doctor told him he was drinking to much soda. (as in coca cola). He had to stop drink soda for about 6 weeks, then limit how much he drank on a daily bases after that. He was taking in to much of the stuff that makes the pop fizz.. I don't remember how many cans of soda he was drinking at that time, but I do remember it was a lot! Do you drink a lot of soda in a day?
