I'd stick to fish or turn vegetarian. I hardly eat meat anyway. I would not eat Kosher meat even though it's closest to the Muslim way of slaughtering. You can get protein from soya and other beans. Since it's a small town, you might not even get Kosher meat.

Kosher Meat is the closest to Halal, it is killed, bleed and inspected in a similar manner to Halal, there is not alot of mail order opportunitys because of the handling.
Try the closest large city, talk to the local grocer to maybe start handling Halal meat, there may be more people in your area who might want the same, the more people who would like something the more likely the will stock it

In a previous job I had to arrange a major conference for a group of Pakistani engineers...boy did I get a good lesson in "Halal" preparation. I went to the country club where we had set up the conference and talked to their catering director. She called her supplier and he called Chicago and was able to get Halal meat for her no problem. It really didn't even cost more. So my suggestion to you is to find a real meat market in your area and explain to them what you need. I'm betting there's a Halal butcher or two in Atlanta and that the meat is available for the asking. Yes it might be a special order, but it's not like you're going to fret over one piece or another. Just let them know what you need and make sure you give them a few days' notice.

If there is kosher meat, you can eat it safe in the knowledge that it is neither pork, nor has it ever come in contact with pork. The Muslim method,Halal, of processing meat for consumption originated with the Jewish dietary laws, one of which (the prohibition against pork) Mohammed adopted.
