Sure does. And you don't need near the protein most will tell you that you need. Very little in fact and you can get that from legumes, such as beans, peas, lentils, etc. Nuts also are a source of protein and the good kind of fat that will lower your cholesterol, the bad and increase the good. So veggies, fruits and nuts and you have a complete diet that is really good for you. If you don't think so, look at Genesis at how long they lived before they ate meat. These days you can live at least 11 years longer if you go totally vegetarian. I know some people that are in their 90's that you would swear are not over 60.

I don't think so.. I think there are a lot of logical fallacies floating around this page.. Such as the post hoc fallacy ( after this therefor because of this )

Heart disease is caused by blood chemistry.. That's basically what heart disease is. Its the consequences of blood chemistry over time. Whether its stress causing adrenaline and cortisol to wreak havoc, or high glucose levels, or hyperventilation changing pH, etc. So basically, you can obtain healthy blood chemistry with or without a vegetarian diet. The issue is whether or not you have healthy blood chemistry. The vegetarian answers, well, its a sort of religion really. Good luck getting honest answers from people with a schema at stake.

I don't think so.....I know some overweight vegitarians! Many fruits are high in sugar! Some fruits/veggies are high if fat such as guaccamole. Nuts are great meat alternative but in moderation as they too are high in fat! Anyone overweight is a good candidate for hear desease...vegitarian or not! So don't just eat healty...be be active is the key!

yes in the sense of diet only though, because there are other health problems that can cause heart problems like hyper thyroid disease, yet with this disease eating red meat can cause bone loss to speed up,its best to work with a nutritionist if,your really looking for a healthy way to eat.going full circle, eating no meat or very little is better than eating meat everyday.

Yes! Though not all vegetarians eat a healthy diet. It is possible to eat nothing but cheese pizza and french fries and chips and pop and cheetos and you get the picture! For a healthy vegetarian diet be sure to include a variety of whole grains, nuts, fruits, veggies and not too much cheese. Also supplement your diet with flax seed and omega 3 fish oil.

No. You need to watch what you eat. You need to avoid salt, saturated fat, hydrated oils, etc. Some of these things are found in meat. Most of the time, it is something added - to either meet or vegetables.
