There's no such thing as American food! Ethnic food require that a culture and peoples be homogeneous. America is the great melting pot where we adopt not only people but the foods they brought with them. The only thing that is truly American cuisine we owe to native Americans, maple syrup, maize(corn), tomato's, turkey,cranberries..... If you where thinking maybe the fast food industry guess again because the beloved American hamburger is named after the German city it was invented and also by the earl of sandwich also German and served with FRENCH fries!

well I don't know much about african food, per se. But my employment position has me brushing shoulders with large
populations of Africans daily. There is a lunch truck that
comes around during the day to cater to the Africans.
The lunch truck is, too, operated by Africans. Many of
the items sold on the truck is African prepared food.
I stay away from it because I notice the other Africans
buy the dinners and then eat it with their hand (no fork or spoon)
and often times share the same meal with others, who also
eat it with their hands. It grosses me out, and turns me off
to eating whatever it is they are eating. However, I am
hooked on their African tea. It is a milky sweet kind of tea,
and even on days when it is 100 degrees outside, I drink it.
Incidentally, the Africans are taxi drivers.

This is just too wide to answer.
"American" food I always think of as Burgers and steaks, but this is probably far from the truth, as you have some wonderful creole dishes, and the seafood from Maine and the Gulf is reputedly brilliant.

There is also the American cooking of Mexico, all of Central and South America, which is probably as diverse as African cooking.
I think the Inuit have some interesting dishes as well - probably not to everyone's taste, but there you go.

So to answer your question I think I would have to say - It depends------

I would have to say African cause it has a different feel and taste to it, all of it. That and there is no real American food cause America is so many thing mixed together and you can't really tell where it orginally came from. ^_^

Well American food as we all know is junk food, as they haven't a clue how to cook any helthy food, I mean there Bacon they leave in the frying pan until it goes rock hard, over here in the UK we cook it properly, I haven't tried African food as of yet, but I like Hot n Spicy food, like Indian, mexican etc!

both countries/continents are large, and have a huge variety. in south africa alone there are so many different cultures each with their own specialities.this is one of the things which make them fortunate.

for the person looking for recipes. look up South african recipes , there are many delights there. the "pokke kos " is actually called Potjie Kos, and is an interesting dish.

this is without looking at the rest of that continent. i would say African. come on America can't be the best at everything.

hey, that is good question? why? because, u cant compare this two cuisines, american food is nice, but, u will get fat though. african food is healthy and tasty, but too spicy. it is really up to ur own taste, i would slightly prefer african one. and my best food is definitly chinese food. i can talk ages about chinese food. also need to mention indian-pakistan cuisine. especially the masala spice is invention.

definite and it grow to be great. the sorrowful area is i do not save in options the call of the food I loved the most. there is an African eating position on the point of my abode and that i desire different food so undesirable. I do save in options plantain, i imagine i visit purchase some and make some myself. upload: definite Nigerian food is somewhat good.
