Vitamin A (which is found in carrots) is good for the health of your eyes, but does nothing for your vision. Looking at a computer screen is one of the worst things we do to our eyes.
Your best bet to protect your vision is to use any corrective wear you are prescribed, never ever buy those glasses you can get at department stores, limit you use of computers, and spend time trying to see in the dark every evening. make sure that you wear glasses/sunglasses with UV protection. The best ones can be gotten from your optometrist.
If you must use a computer often (like me) make sure you are blinking! and occasionally look somewhere far away, out a window or something.
There is surgical proceedures for vision too. Lasik for near sightedness, I can't remember what they call the surgery for far sightedness, but I know the success level is not as high on that one.

It depends how old you are and how far you're willing to stick with going bare for at least 5 months (no glasses nor contacts). If you're older than 18 you probably wont get any results as your eye lens has already adjusted

Anything with beta carotene. You can get this from carrots, beets, yellow squash, sweet potatoes, spinach, and certain fruit drinks like V-8 or V-8 splash even.
