If your stent is going to reocclude it will do so within 3 months. Now they have drug elluding stents that increase these odds. But if you make it past 3 months you are probably ok as long as you modify your lifestyle according to Dr. orders. I am an invasive cardio tech, so I see it alot

Arterial stents are designed to keep an artery open and flowing, the prognosis is usually a good one unless the patient is past the point of the procedure being effective.

I am going on 3 years post stent placement in my LAD which was blocked 100% and following a heart attack during which I sought no medical care for 4 days. I finally ended up calling my doc because I had called off work for a couple of those days; I was not feeling very well but I had no clue what was going on and I live alone. Everyone was pretty amazed that I survived that heart attack. When they put the stent in, I felt like I remembered feeling as a kid (I was 49).

Generally speaking the procedure last 3-5 years. You need to be aware of how your body feels. My husband had them done in his heart and within 3 months he felt worse and found the area just preceding the stent closed and they ended up doing bypass surgery. Yet he also has stents in his thighs that have remained good for 6 years. Pay attention and you should be fine.
