Southern California has LOTS of different types of cuisines.
In Los Angeles, one will find mainly Latin and Asian cuisines. L.A. has a Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and Koreatown, so naturally we have these kinds of restaurants. As for Latin cuisine, it's mainly Mexican here, but one can also find Peruvian and Salvadorian restaurants here and there. There's no real boundary for Latin restaurants here, they're all over L.A. county.
I'm in Glendale, bordering L.A. to the north. Glendale has a strong Armenian presence, and Persian as well, so one will notice several MidEastern restaurants here.
Btw, Armenians aren't MidEastern, they're Eastern European, but Armenia is very near the MidEast, so their cuisine is similar.
In another pocket of L.A. county (Artesia, Cerritos, N. Long Beach), one will find a strong Indian populus, so naturally there are many Indian restaurants in that area.
In the San Gabriel Valley (again, in L.A. county) there are lots of Asians, mostly Chinese, so lots of Asian restaurants there.
Orange County, just southeast of Los Angeles County, has a Little Arabia in the city of Anaheim. Same thing there, several MidEastern restaurants.
I love SoCal. : ^ )

I spent just a couple of months in New Orleans, but I miss the food soooo much. I often make gumbo, jambalaya, or red beans and rice. I hope the city is recovering!!
