It isn't any worse than light soda. The only thing that makes it dark is the artificial coloring. Diabetics should avoid all non-diet sodas because the high fructose corn syrup does screwy things to the pancreas and the liver.

Phosphorus. People on kidney dialysis, many of whom are diabetic, need to keep the phos. level in their blood down. Often they take medication to bind the phos. and keep it out of the blood. If the phos level gets too high, they need a dialysis treatment right away to get the level down. Phos. is cleared by the kidney, and often diabetics have poor kindey function.

Because of the sugar content. The color has nothing to do with it. It is bad because of the sugar.
