You need to find a SS lawyer in your area. You on;y have a certain amount of time to appeal their decision so do it NOW. the lawyers don't want $$$ upfront but will generally take 33.33 % when you win. Remember when you win that SS pays you back to the DAY that you FIRST applied. SS almost always denies if u r younger than 60 cuz they're stingy bastards (sorry) and don't want to pay for not giving us enuf medical benefits so that we can keep our Diabetes under control. GOOD LUCK and email me if you want any more help.

Sorry but these Dx do not automaticly get you on ssi,
Sounds like you have a keen mine & a computer why not put some engery into a job.
Every diabetic I know has nuropathy and is depressed at one time or another. IF losing your leg has made you disabled, sit in a chair to do work get a Jazzy chair. Do something just don't quit!

I am a diabetic, blind, an O2, on dialysis, and have heart failure. for the blindness I was on SSDI for 5 years just to get the help I needed to get back to work. I can't do nursing any more & Im not the director any more but I can make calls and I can use my mine. I work for a pizza company calling their CSR to hear they are doing their job and asking the right questions. I also work doing cut & paste of information the bosses need for their reports. dumb work and I have to have alot of time off to go to dialysis but I work!!
Go get a job even if its part time THEN go ask for some help from SSDI they will help you get back to work then.

Go back and file a grievance. Lots of people get rejected the first time. There are lawyers who work specifically with SSI and SSD.
If that's too expensive for you, try legal aid. You should be able to work this out with SSI though. Don't let the first refusal get you down. Good luck.

Seriously? I know someone who got SSI for a sore back. Apply again. They often say "no" the first time no matter what. If you still don't recieve benefits, find a lawyer. There are a lot out there who represent only SSI cases.

This is what I ask myself all the time.....I have 9 different medical problems...each worse then the next and they turned me down too. I got a lawyer,,,,and it still has been over a year and I am still fighting......sad to say....there are people out there that are getting it and should not......I hear it on the court show, like Judge Judy all the time. One man is getting it cause he hurt his leg, and there he was STANDING in court, saying he was working at a job, that is paying him on the side.........so where is the justice that those that need it can't get it and those that don't really need it can get it......that is the age old question............

well thats a tough one.
This is how they look at it
A below the knee amputation doesn;t mean you can;t work.
You can get a deskjob.
Diabetes does not qualify you for SSI
neither does depression or neuropathy all these conditions can be treated with medications, they are not disabilities, you can work .

You could consult a lawyer that specializes in this and they will tell you right off the bat if your qualify.

good luck to you.

You can get your benefits, just file again. I have a friend who had his leg cut off in a car wreck and he was denied the first time too. If they still give you a hard time, there are plenty of lawyers who would be more than happy to help you out. Good Luck.

SSI always says NO the first time - no matter how legit the claim. I think it is just to see how serious you are. Apply again - and if necessary hire an attorney that specializes in SSI claims.
