Get a lawyer and file an appeal ASAP, as you have a limited time that you can request an appeal. Even if you don't have time to get a lawyer before your time limit to appeal runs out, request the appeal, and then work on getting a lawyer. Often Lawyers will not accept a case if it is strictly SSI, unless you can pay up front. Lawyers prefer to take SSDI or SSDI/SSI cases, so give yourself plenty of time to find legal help. The SSA often turns people down for benefits, and it often takes years for a hearing to be scheduled. In my state, it is taking 2-3 years to get a hearing date once an appeal is applied for. If you need to, apply for Welfare benefits to get you through the few years it is going to take you to appeal this. Good Luck!!

definitely appeal, consult a lawyer, many will give first consultations for free....if you are denied again, contact your community ombudsman for assistance.
