Milk might work, but not a great option if you are Asian as it will give you a bellyache (we lack the enzymes that Europeans have for dairy products) - beer works for me but my wife swears by citrus fruit - that is how her European taste buds survived travelling in SE Asia and Mexico and living with an East Indian Family...she had never had anything more spicy that pepper steak so her eyeballs practically melted when she had her first real curry...now she will try anything spicy anywhere as long as there is fresh citrus fruit available, yogurt and cucumbers or bubble tea...Chinese restaurants usually have beer or slices of fresh oranges available or lychee (but that can be a little weird for Europeans because they look and feel lik eyeballs and they are a little squuemish about stuff like that (^_^)...but water is DEFINITELY the WORST thing to have!

water will sadly only make the burning sensation worse if the food you ate contains chilli powder or chili peppers. so in that case you would need to drink milk full fat pasteurised works best from past experiance.
beer and other alcoholic drinks also have little to no effect on the burning sensation.
I like the suggestions of sugary drinks or even just sugar, but if you are health conscious then milk just a half pint will work best of all and is the healthiest option if you are really health conscious you can try skimmed or semi skimmed milk but they may not work as fast or well as full fat.

The hot parts of the curry are alcohol soluble. Roll a couple tablespoons of vodka on your tongue and this will help dissolve and wash away the heat. Spit or swallow at your leisure.

Sorry, but dairy products are your best bet, the lactic acid neutralizes the capsicin burn from the chili oils.
DON'T do water, ya know oil and water don't mix and you will spread the burn.
Oh and get some gentle TP for the exit burn.

Try eating a banana or a fruit-based smoothie for dessert. Many fresh fruits will calm the fire, if they're not acidic like lemon, orange or grapefruit. Go for bananas, melon, mango etc.

People have told me milk is better. I personally am not a great fan of milk but by then you may not be able to taste a thing anyway!
