What you are having are premature ventricular contractions..It is not uncommon for younger people to also get PVCs..They can be caused by many variables, stress, caffeine, smoking, and some street drugs.. and sometimes if the heart is not getting enough oxygen. And worst case CAD .I'm a 42 year old man. when i was in my early 20s I also would have episodes of PVCs. of coarse I ignored them. They would come and go for maybe 2 weeks at a time..when i was about 38 I started having them again, this time it was constantly all day!!! I work in an ECG lab and did 2 -24 Hr holters on myself finding I was have long episodes of bigeminy and trigeminy( that's when every other beat was a PVC(bigeminy) or every 3rd beat was a PVC(trigeminy) I was also having multiform ventricular couplets. the first 24 Hr test I DID, I THREW 18,000 in one day. I didn't feel bad from them, they just annoyed the hell out of me (not to mention they scared the hell out of me as well. I had a stress echo done and there was no blockage..cool..that ruled out CAD.So I stared taking a beta blocker Toporol XL which in a matter of about 2 weeks they dissipated..I stopped the toporol about 6 months ago and still no PVCs...My Dr and I came to the conclusion that it was stress originated BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET SOME TESTES DONE TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT CRITICAL..IN MOST CASES THEY ARE NOT CRITICAL ESPECIALLY IN YOUNG PEOPLE.

I'm 20 and have been experiencing pvcs on a regular basis for almost a year. I've been to the cardiologist and they did a bunch of tests including a 24 hour monitor. Docs couldn't find anything wrong with me except that I was having about 1,000 pvcs a day. (although I didn't feel all of them.) I've completely cut out caffeine for the past few months. I do have some anxiety, but most of it is triggered by the pvcs, not the other way around. It's a terrible feeling and I wish I knew why it was happening ):

Hi
I have had PVC's since I was 23. They started shortly after the birth of my daughter. My palpitations differ, If I'm stressed i get them almost non stop and at other times they almost go away 1 or 2 a day. My doctor said they were nothing to worry about and said mine are caused by anxiety, which is most likely the case I also have Panic disorder. Hope this helps

Alright here it goes, I had the same problem a couple years back, but my racing heart beat only occured at night time. To give you some advice what you need to get is an EKG baseline, to make sure that it isn't a type of arrythmia you're experiencing, and just a racing heartbeat, and definitely stop all over the counter supplements because that could be a cause for it. That is your highest concern. Next, if it isn't a conduction abnormality in your heart then it could be a couple of things, one, you're going through some type of withdrawls, especially if you used to take supplements over the counter and stopped, or if you had a substance abuse problem and stopped. If the answer's still no, then you might have a lil something called anxiety attacks. Just know you ain't crazy, or sick in the head, it actually happens to about 4 out of 10 people in the US especially under a great deal of stress, and if you do, you might have to take a type of anti-depressent. So first follow up with your doc on these things and definetly get your heart evaluated with that ekg immediatly. If you have any other questions just holla

My question is if you feel any accompanying symptoms whenever you have the skip beats? A lot of people can live with this condition and not feel anything. That's fine and as long as you keep yourself in great condition(avoid drugs and alcohol, diet and exercise, regular check-ups, too). If you do feel "funny" and lightheaded, sweaty, chest pain, then this is not good. You might need to have a device implanted on you or a surgery to correct this. I'm thirty something and I get them once in a while but since I have no other symptoms, I don't worry about it.

I used to get them in my 20's a great deal....then I figured out what was causing it. Caffeine. I used to drink a lot of soda and that was the issue. To this day if I have a Pepsi, I will have bad palpitations later on. I would try cutting down on the amount of caffeine you consume and see if it helps.

My son started having them when he was about 18-19 years old. Now at 31, His doctor did not feel it was due to anxity but just a malfunction of his heart. He just knows he has been working to hard and needs a few minutes to stop and rest. He started his own business and the stress along with the hard phyical work gets to him sometimes.
I started having them just about a year before I started having heart attacks... but Im older like 47!
He also quit all the fatty foods and caffine drinks but still continues to have them.
Sorry to hear so many others are having this too.

Hi, please don't fret. I know it's hard to. Im googling pvcs as we speak but look we have a long road ahead. Just believe in your doctors, it's really hard. Especially when your heart is skipping around. Good luck you are fine!!! trust me

I used to get them... still do on occasion. Increase your excersize. Decrease any negativity. It might also be from having an acidic body in which case you need to increase your green leafies and green vegetables (raw or juiced). You might also benefit from Fish/flax oil, usually 3x per day. 2x if it bothers you at night.
