My sister has disbetes and she takes metformin. Supposely met is suppose to help you lose weight when taking properly. If you are experiencing diarrhea that is normal and should subside within a few weeks.
However if it is really bothering you contact your physican and maybe he/she will reduce your dosage. Here is a good site to check out :

Good luck to you

I have been taking this for several years, along with insulin. I have also been using an insulin pump for 4 years. Metformin never made me gain weight but it did give mediarrhea for a few days at the start. That is normal and it should go away in a short period of time. Just be sure to drink a lot of fluids to compensate for the diarrhea. As for the weight gain, that could be from taking the wrong dose or taking it at the wrong time, etc. Talk with your doctor about this as I believe it should help you to lose weight, not gain it.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I also take this drug and have not had any problems with it. You need to tell your doctor about these side effects as they might change your doses or your medicine all together. You alao may be taking your medine at the wrong time and dose also.
