Yes! I have, and it's delicious.
There are a few shops near my home and they are making fresh taiyaki all day.

The shops near my home make taiyaki with many fillings! The most common is azuki-red bean paste, but they also have custard fillings, okonomiyaki filling, and even chocolate fillings. Yes, it's very good! (*^o^*) You'd love it, especially when it's just been freshly made and still warm...♡YUMMY!♡You can get regular size taiyaki, about the size of your hand, or mini taiyaki:

Even colored taiyaki:

I think taiyaki and dorayaki are different. I prefer taiyaki.
Dorayaki is like a pancake sandwich, the taiyaki is a bit different. The taiyaki 'shell' is firmer, the dorayaki (doremon's favorite) is a thicker, softer pancake like shell.

Dorayaki has many of the same sweet fillings but I have never seen one with 'okonomiyaki' filling. Look at the pictures, so the difference? My friend has a 'teddy bear mold' and makes them the shape of cute little teddies. Cute and yummy!
Hope this helps! ♡I think after lunch today I'll take my nieces to eat 'taiyaki' and kakigori near the station.(*^o^*)

taiyaki's the fish-shaped one and tastes the best while it's fresh and hot and the cake's a little thicker and more firm. dorayaki's round and its cake is a little softer and thinner and is always good, like ALWAYS no matter cold or hot or warm ahahaha. but they're basically made with the same ingredients. heck, now i want some of both!!
