I was wondering, how many years or months do you have to keep checking up for HIV?STD's. And when can you stop and make sure you don't have it at all?

well this is funny but in the past 2 months I haven't been horny and I stopped becoming sexually active. Is it best to take the check up for STD's/HIV every 6 months or a year? and how long do I have to keep doing this check up?

If you would have been tested at the four week mark and said you were negative I would tell you to go out and find a nice looking man and send his *** to the moon. But you said you had sex ten weeks ago. Here is my take on the situation (there is no MD attached to my name) But I know a thing or two.
If you used a condom and it did not break there is a microscopic chance of you being infected. You did use a condom didn't you? If no please tell me you knew the guy. Well any hoot you most likely are not infected I will tell you why. 1/254 Americans has HIV the virus that causes AIDS and there so that means when you had sex with him it would be like sticking your hand into a jar of 253 balls and pulling out the winning one while blindfolded.
Secondly HIV is not easy to catch it is extremely fragile and in some cases dies before infecting the person. You could be a lucky one and it skipped you.
Finally if these results come back negative (which I believe they will) you need to seek counseling. It is not normal for person to loose there sex drive unless they have aged beyond the natural point of reproduction. Anxiety Killed The Cast. Oh another thing those "Symptoms" of the disease you are feeling are actually due to your mind not your body.

As far as STD's, I would be especially concerned and take a test once I noticed something was wrong like a smell or color of discharge other than that I think every 6 months is good. But being a woman, I have pretty much always noticed changes in my body that just werent right.

It's best if you keep checking for HIV every six months. that's about the window period (the period wherein it will show whether you have it or not). some people, like Scandinavians, have certain mutations in their genes that even if they have it, it won't show in the test until 10 years or so have gone by. but if you've been having safe sex, your chances of having HIV are relatively less. condoms do afford you protection. as for std's, you go for a checkup because you do feel or see something, like itchiness, burning when you pee, or you see some lesions on your skin. so i guess that's about it for your question.

That shold be long enough to catch any normal STD, but HIV can lay dormant and your body maynot produce enough antibodies for the standard test to detect. If negative, I would still get checked in a year.

If you are sexually active, I would get tested every year. If u don't want to though, just go to the red cross and donate blood. They will not be able to use your blood if you have an STD, and that way there u will know for free.

every 6 months for a 6 years I had to do it because I got bit at work when I was young about 20 years ago but I still do a check up on myself every year it's something that stays in your mind forever. for your peace of mind go to the public health clinic or the free clinic as the call it..

Oh christ no, I reside in an overly tiny rural village, no one right here might appear well bare, besides me. Most ancient guys right here put on wellies and haven't any tooth. I most often learn a journal whilst I'm ready then placed it again with out procuring it.
