Ok, so why do people call themselves "vegans"? It doesn't make any sense.

Well vegetarians and vegans are two different things. Vegetarians refrain from eating meat, but still eat meat products like milk, eggs, cheese, etc. While Vegans refrain from eating any meat and animal products. A vegetarian is sometimes a vegan but all vegans are vegetarians.

Vegetarian and Vegan aren't quite the same thing. Vegetarians just don't eat meat, vegans don't eat anything derived from an animal - such as milk or cheese. So they're not quite the same.

Vegans are a more serious form of vegetarians. Some vegetarians eat chicken, fish, eggs. Many vegans won't even eat dairy products. I guess they think unless you are a Vegan you are a veggie Poser.

A vegetarian is someone who does not eat animals (chicken, steak pork).

A vegan is someone who does not eat animals or animal products (eggs, cheese).
