Hello,

Hiv in some cases can be detected 11 days but this test isn't 100% accurate, there is another test for 28 day exposure peiod and a three months and 6 months peiod.

Most people wait till 3 or 6 month to have the all clear.

You're not looking for the earliest test, you're wondering at what point the test is conclusive. If you put yourself at risk, most experts agree that a negative test at 3 months is conclusive. All other tests up to that point although are encouraging, they are not conclusive. If your exposure was extremely high risk( having unprotected sex multiple times with an HIV+ partner, sharing needles with an HIV+ friend etc.) The it is recommended that you follow up the 3 month test with a 6 month one. Most cases though a 3 month negative is considered conclusive. That's 3 months from your last exposure by the way. Hope that helps!

The reason you have heard so many different answers, is because everyone is different. It could show up in a few weeks in some people. But HIV can take up to 10 years in some people to show up. Have you been in contact with someone who has it, or do you think you may have it? If so, then get tested, and then retest every 6 months. In the meantime, if you have sex, make sure you use protection. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I am sure the wait on finding out something so important can be brutal. But the truth of the matter is, it could take years to find out.

Go to the website I linked dear - it's got LOADS of great info on all the STD's including your question

** P.S. If you 'can't wait' 6 months to have sex again, why didn't you protect yourself the first time? I mean really, you think you are gonna be sexually active with anyone that DOES NOT have HIV If you got it? Only way you get to have sex then, is with an HIV positive person, because NOT many will have sex with you - even protected. Please mature and think about this stuff before you do this to yourself.

From the time an HIV infected person made contact with someone, there is already a transfer of the virus. It is less than the timetable you ever thought.
