One impeortant point the author of this piece left out are the striking similarities between our digestive systems and that of bears and especially pigs, two of the best known omnivores. While humans can survive on a vegetarian diet, the desire to eat meat comes from the bodies need of protien, which along with muscle growth, aids in healing and strengthening the immune system. Although some vegetarian foods, like beans and peanuts, are high in protien, they don't contain the variety of amino acids present in meat.
As for the Reverand's biblical arguments, I believe they are at best misguided. In the first five books of the Bible there are several lists of "clean" and "unclean" animals, which is to say, the animals God allowed His people to eat. This was abolished in the New Testemant as these laws were meant as symbols of what was to come.
To finish, if you want to be a vegetarian, that is your own decision and you should not let anyone prevent you from living the way you want. This road runs both ways. Nobody on either side of the fence wants people telling them that the way they live or eat is wrong, and anyone who offers "proof" that one way is better than the other is probably just trying to boost his/her ego. With all the "health risks" involved with nearly every activity known to man, it's no surprise that this debate ranks right up at the top, especially with all the animal rights activists supporting it. Eventually you need to decide for yourself just to live your own life, because it's a proven fact, even oxygen will eventually kill you. So, eat what you want and enjoy it, let others do the same.

Let me just tell you something. This statement is one hundred percent false:
"So, based on what we have learned, the big question becomes: "Were humans biologically designed by God to be plant-eaters (vegetarians), or to be masticators of animal flesh, (carnivores)?" You decide!"
It is from the bottom of that page. The problem with the entire statements made on that web page is that it states that there are only carnivores (meat eaters) and herbivores (plant eaters). However, there are also Omnivores and Detrivores. Detrivores are essentially decomposers, and are defined by their eating of dead organic material. HUMANS ARE OMNIVORES, meaning we eat both plant and animal matter. And we are not alone in this, other animals are like this, such as Black Bears and Chickens. If you want to argue that Chickens have been domesticated, consider that humans have been domesticated as well.
Overall, the site has the major flaw that reveals it to be a lie: It makes no comparison of humans to omnivores. We have multiple traits that carnivores have and multiple that herbivores have. We are blended by our divine creator into a combination of both.

"meant" isn't the word I would use, considering that I think in terms of unguided evolution.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I do restrict the amount and types of meat I eat. A vegetarian diet is much healthier and also much more energy efficient in the food chain (think of how much plant matter it takes to raise a cow compared to how much food a cow actually provides).
The notion that vegetarians don't get enough protein is unfounded and untrue. There are many non-meat sources of protein. Sure, a person can live a long time eating only meat, but their health isn't going to be as good and their lives won't be as long as someone who includes a lot of vegetables since they contain a lot of vitamins and minerals and very little "bad stuff".

this rather biased article actually proves that we are not strict carnivores, like, say a lion, but if you decide to make similar comparison of humans to strict herbivores, you will find also gross difference, likei dont have teeth of a herbivore, do you? sorry, but our intestine is definitely shorter than herbivores intestine, this is solid fact - can you disprove it? our appendix is a vestigal organ, no more, a mouse , that is much more adapted to herbivory than us: gnawing teeth that grow constantly, two very large appendices to increase the length and volume of gut (while we have just a little nonfunctional vestigal organ) etc etc and the mouse is still apparently able to eat and digest meat,,and this way we can continue over and over
i hope that this is what you wanted - comment to disprove you. only i dont rubbish vegetarians, i just honestly and deeply despise false argumentation to make things appear otherwise than they are. you can "prove" anything if you use the gift of speach that way (see www.dhmo.org on this) we are omnivores with dominance of vegetable diet and our digestive tract, teeth, senses, abilities show it quite unabmiguously - if back when at college at zoology exam i would get a handful of teeth of a human (like without possibly knowing they were human, for instance made of plastics and twice their usual size, but still their shape ) and drawing of human intestinal tract (laid flat to conceal the fact it is human) and i said this belongs to a strict herbivore, I WOULD FLUNK THE EXAM RIGHTAWAY. COS OMNIVORE WOULD BE CORRECT
it is great that you try to care what gets in your stomach, but next time you should be more careful what gets in your head!! dont tell me that it is not at least equally important!

The bible has nothing to do with what we consume.
I am a vegatarian...And I have been for 3 years.
I know plenty of people who eat meat who are extremly healthy.
I like being a vegatarian..But I know I am not healthy at all.
Yes you could eliminate a lot of digestive problems...And thats nice.
But just to be plauged by more problems. Iron deficency, lack of protein, etc.,etc...
It is not worth it.
Im pretty sure humans and flesh eating animals were both designed to eat meat. Comparing humans to a tiger/lion is completely pointless...OF COURSE we are different..DUH...Thats just lame..

this is the dumbest thing I have EVER seen. just because you cook meat does not mean it is now useless. Any cooked thing retains most of its original vitamins and protein, all cooking does to meat is kill all the harmful bacteria that is in meat that we as humans can die from. Animals in the wild have a stronger immune system to fight off these thing or they do not affect them as it would us. If we were not meant to eat meat the why are our teeth designed for ripping and cutting, (your canines the to front teeth in your mouth) if we were not meant to have to tear meat from the bone we would not need them, our teeth would just be all flat.

This is false science and false religion.
False science because our stomachs are not only able to process meat, but process meat at the same time as it processes vegetables. This is unlike a cow that has different stomachs for different food types.
False religion because Genesis is the word of God and tells us that animals are there for our use.

That is a biased opinion. Of course a vegan and or vegetarian is going to come up with reasons not to eat meat, and meat eaters are going to come up with reasons to eat it. I would rather see the facts from ppl that don't care either way.

As short as our lives are anyway, does it really matter? It does sort of make me want to eat more vegetables when I remember seeing how animals are slaughtered, but I don't see myself becoming a full vegetarian... ever.
