I have to agree with Yingbo that pizza may have somewhat of an ancient origin in China (invention of pasta, dumplings, etc... of which those ideas/concepts were transported back to Europe and greatly modified), but pizza as we know it (cheesy with marina sauce) most definitely does not come from China. I would say the origins lie in Italy or the Italian US immigrants.

Pizza is not from China
Pizza first originated in Naples, Italy.
In the USA it was originated by Italians in New York and Chicago
It was known to the world by franchises like Pizza Hut, and more recently by Dominoe's Pizza.

I know a story about Marco Polo and his travel to China. It is said that he ate a kind of Chinese food(bao zi: steamed dough with stuffing inside ) there and liked it. After he returned to Italy, he tried to make the same thing but could not put the stuffing inside the dough. So he simply put the stuffing on top of the dough and baked it. So pizza was originated in China.

An Italian guy did this report in college and gave us a history lesson on pizza. It actually originated in France, but the Italians stole the idea and made it a whole lot better. Thank God for the Italians. Mama Mia!

If you interpret "pizza" to mean a flat piece of dough with toppings on it, then no, it originated in Greece! Much later, Italy adopted this idea with a vengeance. And much, much later, tomatoes were brought to Italy from the Americas and used to make a sauce for the pizzas.

No the dough was created in China, as pastas were! AS for the pizza itself, it was said to be a meal for poor Italians who would put everything they found on this dough and cook it!

Remnants of what we consider pizza were found in the ruins of Pompeii of 79 A.D. It is widely believed that pizza was created in Italy, but perfected in the United States.

I thought ketchup or tomato sauce was from China. I was told that there was a guy who owns a restaurant, and customer came in but he had nothing to serve. So he only had a few ingridents, dough, tomato and cheese and thats what he made and the people like it.
