Yes there are plenty of men that will still date you, regardless of herpes. I have had herpes for about 5 years now and I have dated a few guys who didn't have the virus, and even one who did have it! Of course I told them all before we become sexually involved. There are guys out there though that don't care about the STD but the kind of person you are.

I'm engaged to a great guy right now. When I met him, he didn't have herpes. I told him and after some long discussions he accepted the fact that someday he would probably get it from me.

You need to be upfront with these guys, but there are guys that will date you, trust me. Good luck to you!

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

Whoa people, everyone on here so far has said something wrong! Yes, of course you can! First of all, don't count out all the guys that also have it. If you do find a guy who does not have it, be open and upfront about it with him, if he walks then its a good sign that you wouldn't want to be with him in the future anyways. Its not something you want to mention right away, but do talk about it before the first time you have sex. Suppressive therapy and a condom will only reduce the chance of transmission, but not eliminate it. There are a lot of good guys out there who can look past the stigma of herpes, and see the person. 25% of the population is infected as well...so you're not alone!

You should look on line or in the local papers believe it or not there are groups of singles who have herpes who look for others to date..my friend several years ago met her now husband through the same singles group with Herpes...The problem with dating anyone you must be up front and honest with them..you can still shed the virus even without an outbreak..are you are a medication to suppress the virus?..

I have genital herpes and I am single and I have been wondering about the same thing you have, however I have found a web site you can go to, to meet people who have genital herpes as well and see if you can meet someone there. Now I'm not saying you can't find someone who doesn't have the disease but sometimes it's easier to talk to someone who knows where you are coming from.

YES YOU CAN. I have had herpes for 3 years. I have dated men with it and without it. I have had them completely reject me over it and others who said "OK I'll just wear a condom", which everyone should be doing anyway. They all appreciated my honesty. It really depends on the maturity of the man too. I decided that this STD would let me know if a man really cared about me and not just physical stuff. Herpes isn't always fun but its not worth stopping your life over. The best book that I have found is "Herpes, how to live and love with a chronic STD". It puts things in real life perspective.

yes. i was recently (3 wks ago) diagnosed w/ genital herpes. and i told my ex boyfriend (didn't give it to me...a VERY ex boyfriend) he wants to get back together and says he can't turn off the fact that he loves me even with the virus. i'm more scared than he is of him catching it. i was also dating a guy, but not being intimate, when i found out i had it. i told him too and he's okay with it. guys are kind of like that i think.
