Me and my partner took a dose of zithromax at Planned Parenthood and they told us to wait 7 days to have sex again. I talked to my Dr. and she told me to wait 4 weeks. If you've taken zithromax, how long did you wait to have sex again?

7 days is the correct answer- not sure why your doctor stated 4 weeks.

You can resume sexual activity after a week, but make sure your partner took the medication or you'll definitely get reinfected. Medication such as Zithromax kill the chlamydia bacteria fairly quickly. It takes a few days for the Zithromax to be eliminated from your body. Waiting four weeks is excessive. Most doctors tend to recommend drugs that are new to the market. On the downside, these medicines are rather costly and aren't any better than the ones available in stores. Patients restricted by a tight budget must ask their physician for a generic alternative. Why Doctors Prescribe Azithromycin
When suffering from bacterial infection, it is crucial the medication you are prescribed is strong enough to eliminate the target bacteria without affecting the other beneficial bacteria. Azithromycin meets this requirement since you only need to take this once a day for just three days. With such a short dosing period, patients find this drug cost-efficient and convenient. Doctors, on the other hand, are pleased since it improves compliance significantly.
Side Effects
When put on an Azithromycin regimen, side effects such as diarrhea, stomach pain, upset stomach, vomiting and mild skin rash could be experienced. It is recommended you inform your doctor of any side effects especially if the symptoms become worse. There are cases when patients reported hypersensitivity to the medication, characterized by hives, swelling of the face and feet and breathing difficulties. Again, call your doctor for proper medical attention.
