Stay away from fried foods, concentrated sweets (sugary mints and candies, soda), and high fatty foods (mcdonalds, wendys, arby's etc). And stay away from foods high in cholesterol (fatty red meat, fast food) Starbucks is also very high in cholesterol and has a lot of concentrated sweets.
Try to increase your daily consumption of fruits and vegetables.
I know you said u dont want to take medicine, but what about herbal supplements that u can buy over the counter? Enteric coated Garlic tablets worked for me. I took one before each meal for a few weeks, and I noticed a decrease when I went back to my doctors. And they don't leave that garlic taste in your mouth since they have a special coating on them that keep them from dissolving too quickly.

Stay away from processed foods and fried foods. When reading labels, avoid foods that have High Fructose Corn Syrup or Partially Hydrogenated Oils listed in ingredients, especially if they are among the first 3 listed. Stay away from white bread, pastas and rice. Eat whole grain breads (not just whole wheat, again read the labels). Eat whole wheat pasta and brown rice. Eat plenty of vegetables--and eat a variety of colors--green, yellow, red, orange, etc. Eat leafy green vegetables as well. Stay away from soda and sugary fruit juices. Get at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day--more veggies than fruit. And don't eat fast food!! Stay away from things that are breaded or have creme sauces.

I would advise that you visit a nutritionist. They can help you set up a balanced eating plan where you change eating habits for the better. Dont forget the exercise either--at least 30 minutes of cardio 5-7 days a week. Include weights in there as well. Good luck!

The cholesterol is from two sources, what your body makes and what you eat. If you have a congenital lipemia diet will not do the job now garlic. I question the use of garlic in a case such as yours anyway. The previous answer gave you some dietary advice.

Flax oil or flax seeds. The seeds also increase fiber, and that binds up the dietary cholesterol and takes it out with the feces.
