Hello. If you get palpitations infrequently, medications and valsalva maneuvers is usually a good choice, both for treatment and prevention. If you have lots of symptons, ablation is a good choice because it will cure WPW about 90%, but know the complications.

You need to sit down with your cardiologist and discuss your prognosis. This should help you make a better decision. For the record, ablation is pretty safe & effective for WPW. In some cases, the procedure may not knock out all the pathways at first, but will usually cure if ablation has to be repeated... DrP

What procedure? Be more specific.
If you are talking about an ablation, I am not sure what the risk are for someone with wpw. I know I would have had the ablation irregardless of the risk because I was getting so bad. I never told the cardiologish how bad things were because I was chicken he would make me go into the cath lab the next day. I was scared and needed to cover my bases. I really thought I would never come off the table because people kept telling me horor stories about the procedure. It was really fast and simple.
