I am a type 1 diabetic (for 24 years) and was prescribed Lasix (a diuretic) about 2 years ago due to edema (swelling) in my legs. The side effects are: frequent urination (stress on kidneys) and a higher risk of dehydration.

I assume that you are talking about diuretics when you are saying water tablets. If that is the case---Yes. If you have been prescribed water pills/diuretics, there is probably a good reason. (usually heart disease) If you feel you are retaining fluid, see your doctor immediately.

water balance has nothing to do with the diabetes and blood glucose level. glucose has no influence on the osmolarity...

Probably not, but I would discuss this with your physician or a pharmacist before you take it.
