Contact the major manufacturers to get information packets on each pump. Try CozMore, MiniMed, Animas, SOOIL. See what sounds best, who is the most helpful, and ask your doctor for an opinion. Then YOU decide.

As for your stomach, make sure you massage out those pockets regularly. Pumps can be used on more than just the stomach, so that shouldn't be a problem.

The pump might be a good option for you because you typically insert them every 3 days or so--not so many shots. But you'll still have to check your glucose several times a day.

First, the pockets in your stomach is caused by giving insulin shots to the same place a lot. If you were to move or rotate your shot area around your stomach say like the numbers on a clock, you can avoid the "pockets." Your doctor or CDE should have mentioned that to you a long time ago. Plus, you can find that info on the various websites dealing with diabetes.

Second, Insulin pumps were reviewed just this past month by Dave Mendosa in his monthly newsletter at "http://www.mendosa.com" It's good information and just plain english... no doctor speak! Moreover, he is a diabetic and calls it as he sees it. If a product is bad he says so. if it's worth trying then he says that too. There's a lot of information in the past newsletters and it also points the way to other sites. It's a good resource for diabetics.

They most likely don't seem to be involved as they already satisfied that they are right and there's very little anyone can do to vary there minds about some thing having to do with a deity...In particular the dogmatic web atheist crowd. But judging with the aid of the remark string here and virtually every WLC hate corner of the web...I would say they're most undoubtedly butthurt. You do appreciate the web is a hotbed for anti-theistic communion proper? You will not likely get an sincere, rather considered or good idea out answer...Simply angry, nasty intellectually insulting claims about WLC's stupidity and supposed lack of expertise of cosmology, traditional science and cause. (all of which, i'm certain you recognize are far from the truth)

I used an insulin pump for three years until my body began refecting the infusion set. I used the Minmed 508 and very happy with the results. I know there is a newer and BETTER model out there now. Mine was very easy to use and very reliable. I recieved all my supplies directly from the company and never had any major problems. Feel free to drop me an email or look me up on YahooIM. I'd be more than happy to talk with you more about it. steve

My son has had the Deltec Cosmo for about 3 or 4 years now. We love the features of the pump. It does some great things, reminder alarms, tracking, tenth of a unit adjustments, etc.

However, we have had some reliability issues. The touch bolus button has been particularly troublesome. We are on our fourth different pump. But the manufacturer has been awesome every time we've had a problem--rushing us out a new one or a new part.

I really can't tell you about any others. But that's our experience with the Cosmo.

I can't comment on other brands, but the Medtronic Minimed has EXCELLENT equipment, support for the equipment, AND they have ALWAYS been nice when I call. I highly reccommend them. One of the diabetes magazines just ran an article comparing all the different pumps. I don't remember which one though. The ADA may be able to help.

I decided to go with Cozmore because it integrates a Freestyle meter- my favorite type- and is fully waterproof. I also like that is has free software upgrades, and can have customized text on the screens. I also like the meal maker feature, which saves me from doing math, and all the different rates you can have (4 basal patterns, 9 custom temp rates).

i am currently going through the process of getting a pump you should talk to your doctor because most hospitals have 1 or 2 pumps that they use or know the most about.
