of course! it is called Itagetti!

here it is!

Here is our family recipe for spaghetti and meatballs. This is an 4-6 hour process, but if you love to cook and want an authentic recipe (handed down to me from my Italian family), here goes:

Tomato Sauce
3 small cans Tomato Paste (Add 3 cans water per can paste)
1 can tomato Puree
3 cloves garlic, minced (more or less to your taste)
1 bunch chopped green onions
1 tsp. salt (add more or less to suit taste)
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp. basil leaves (rub them in your hands before putting in sauce)

In a little olive oil, saute the garlic for a couple of minutes. Don't brown it. Remove from heat; add the paste, then the water. Mix well. Return to heat and add remaining ingredients. Simmer for at least an hour. (We simmer and stir for at least three hours.) This is your basic sauce for spaghetti, lasagna, etc...

As far as the meat:

You can brown ground meat in the pan after you cook the garlic and continue with the sauce recipe. (Add 1/4 cup grated romano cheese to the sauce) I do this on weeknights for a quick version.

OR you can make meatballs to add to the sauce: (A family gathering favorite)

Meatballs
1 cup grated Romano Cheese
2 lbs. ground beef
1 or 2 chopped garlic cloves
2 tsp. parsley
4 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 handful warm water - Grandma insists on this!! ;)

Brown in olive oil. Drain on paper towels and add to the sauce. Try to simmer the meatballs in the sauce for at least two hours.

Hey Gal,
Here is one that I have used for years..

I make a bunch, cause it is so good the next day also..

2 Pounds of GOOD ground beef
2 Large Onions
1 or 2 Jars of RAGU Traditional Pasta Sauce..
------------------------------------------
Chop up the onions pretty fine.
In a good sized pot, start cooking the hamberger. when about 1/2 done, add your onions and simmer until the meat is done..

Boil the Water for the Spaggerri and cook this until done..
Drain the Spaggetti and either pour the spaggetti into the sauce, or pour the sauce over the Spaggetti..

You might need just a tad bit more sacue.. This is why I said 2 jars.
----------------------------------------
Make a tossed salad.
-----------------------------------------
Make a garlic / butter spread w / about 1/4 stick of butter..
Add garlic powder to this ( to taste ) spread on bread or Rolls and toast.
-----------------------------------------

There you be... One fantastic Italian Meal.

Good Luck.
If you need more help.. Shout..

I am not Italian, but the person who gave me this recipe is. This is for the sauce. If you want you could add meatballs, just boil the noodles and enjoy!!

2 tablespoons olive oil
3/4 cup chopped onions
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 1/2 cups water
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon sugar
salt & pepper

Brown the onion and garlic in the olive oil.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour or until thick enough for you!

The best spaghetti sauce I ever had was from my mother in law, when I asked he for the recipe, she held up a jar of Ragu, I told her that I use Ragu and it NEVER tasted that good. Well she adds diced onion, green pepper, minced garlic, and a tsp of sugar and a pinch of baking soda. Since then I have tried it several times, and I get the same reaction from other people. Not exactly home made, but it's very good.

My daughter's mother-in-law, is Italian and a fabulous cook.. However you cook the meatballs or such, add some crushed up wall nuts into it before serving. It adds a fantastic flavour to it. It is a pity you can't get wild boar as the juices and small bits of meat make such a wonderful meal with spaghetti or any type of pasta.................. (don't forget the spoon of Pesto).........

One of my favorites is very simple.. stir fry some fresh garlic and diced onions in a pan, then add tomato sauce and some canned diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, and pepper to taste.
