I'm guessing you do know some people there - your parents, your sister, etc. Ask if anyone else your age MIGHT be there (never know!) and if not, whether you could bring one friend. Otherwise enjoy the food and other entertainment available there, listen to conversations and pipe up when you have something to say. Contrary to other answers do NOT bring iPod, computer, DS, etc. That's just rude when someone has invited you to a party - it sends the message to every other person there that you consider a machine more interesting than them, which will never help you improve your conversation skills. Just think, if you try talking with these people, you have nothing to lose if you mess up or embarrass yourself since you don't know them anyway.

If you're "really bad at conversation", then it's about time to do something about that, isn't it? I promise that if you ask any older person "What was it like going to school when you were my age, you will (1) hear some new and interesting stuff and (2) make an excellent impression.

It's never too young to start charming the adults. In a very few years these people will be the ones you are looking to for introductions, for help finding jobs, for good deals on used cars. You want them to remember you as a gracious young person who put herself / himself forward to meet her / his sisters friends, not a as that sullen little brat who sat off alone and sulked during the bbq.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Of course you have things in common with them. All human beings can find common ground. Limiting yourself to only talking to people of your own age group is really being unfair to yourself. All women have things in common. I'm a 49 year old woman. My best friend is 30. I just recently went back to college. My best buddy there is 18 and just graduated high school. Refusing to join in makes you look anti social. And completely silly. Filling your head with negative ideas like you aren't good at conversation is just so defeatist. Of course, you are a good conversationalist. Just offer up a compliment to someone there. Make sure it's sincere. "That's a great top you're wearing! Where did you get it?" Then let her do the talking. People love to talk about themselves. Add your own little words, but listen more than you talk. Trust me, everyone will love you and think you are a great conversationalist. Now go out there and socialize!

If you have to go, then the rule is to enjoy yourself. If you are poor at making conversation, then listen. You might learn something. Maybe use this as a chance to learn how to strike up conversations. Possibly ask what kind of food or drink would you choose if you only had one to live with while on a deserted island.

How much age difference is there between you and your sister? Maybe you can ask her what things these people like to talk about so that you can contribute to the conversation and not feel out of place.

Talk to them. You may learn something interesting. Ask questions about how things were when they were growig up. That is a good conversation starter. Ask where all they have gone in their lives. What was the most interesting place they have seen? What fascinates them the most about America today?
