I'd use a bit of both and make a delicous mixed meat platter.
You could also get the kids to take a taste test:
"What was that, Rover or Tiddles?".

Oh my gosh, I can't believe your asking this, ummmmm I'd find a bug on the floor to eat first I couldn't possibly eat one of my animals, wait now that I rethink this, if it's a means of survival they're going to die anyways okay I'd eat them in that case since I only have 3 cats a hamster and a turtle that bit me last week I'll start with the turtle and move my way up to the biggest one since he'll last the longest with all the body fat on him.

Absolutely the cat. Dogs show emotion in their faces. How hard would it be to club that BIG SWEETIE when he looks at you with a tear in his eye and asks "Whatcha doing there buddy"? Although, the cat wouldn't be much of a meal, it'd allow you time to look for more cats.

The cat... So that the dog can help me chase it down. But then, the problem comes when I have to hunt my dog down.
But let's not think of it now, let's worry when the time comes!
So, want some of my roasted cat??
