it is naturally green,,, but dye is added to make it greener. freshly ground is good, but the natural green doesn't look all that appetizing, so they do add a little bit if dye for some more eye appeal.

Wasabi, real wasabi, is a root that is part of the horseradish family. It is naturally a pale green.

The wasabi that most people are familiar with is horseradish, not actual wasabi. It is white so the dye is added to make it look like the real thing.

BTW, the fake wasabi is known for it's kick. Real wasabi is much more subtle and fully bodied. Much more expensive and hard to find though.

Its naturally green. Its basically a japanese horseradish and I believe its a member of the cabbage family. Wasabi paste is made from wasabi root but the plant also has leaves which, I think, can also be eaten.

Yes its originally green, japanese love their food to be always all natural and in its raw form. try my blog for some japanese recipe for your wasabi. :D

its naturally green.. but not green enough for the eyes.. so they add a little dye to make it look good..
