If you are not in the habit of going overdrawn then at the discretion of the bank manager they can and probably will drop the charges, make an appointment to see them and explain you weere in hospital and ask them if they can on this occasion wipe them.

they will more than likely say yes but warn you if it happens again they will not wipe them.

charges are meant as a deterent so learn from this and all should be fine

Recent events mean you can demand these charges be refunded as they are deemed too high.

£30 is a penalty fee and exceeds the cost to the bank of administering your account. This is illegal, so if they refuse to refund then issue a small claims court action against them. Many have already done this and they have all had their money returned to them before it got to court.

depends on your bank

contact them asap and if needed be prepared to give proof of your time in hospital

assuming you dont usually go overdrawn some banks may be helpful

if you get no joy with your local branch try head office then the banking ombudsman

good luck

hope you are feeling better

Yes, usually if you go in and explain the circumstances they are quite good about dropping the overdrawn charges.

Depends on how long you have been with your bank and your past record. If it is a good one they will take that into account. Ask you have nothing to lose.

Would you have been OK with the bank stopping paying you interest on any savings whilst you were in hospital? Its not their fault you were in there is it?

they might , but you will probably need to get a letter or something from the hospital to prove you were there
