♡Hmmm, let's see, I love zaru soba too! I've lived in Japan for almost 9 years and I pretty much love everything!(^_-)-☆ I think If you love zaru soba, you'll love tendon:

Delicious tenpura(tempura) over rice with yummy tendon sauce!
You could try okonomiyaki, a Japanese pancake of sorts with veggies and other assorted ingredients:

It's tasty!
How about 1.Tonkatsu

for me, nothing beats a good bowl of ramen (and I'm not talking about top ramen). My all time favorite ramen hast to be from a place that made katsu curry ramen. That's fried chicken with ramen noodles in a curry broth. Sadly, that restaurant is no longer in business.
I also agree with little lamb that agadeshi tofu is wonderful. It's lightly fried tofu in a broth with green onions, nori and bonito. I ordered it the other day while at lunch with some co-workers and they were a bit skeptical but in the end I think they liked it.
I also like bonito rice balls. Rice balls in general are pretty good and you can get a variety of fillings. They also make a good meal on the go and are very simple to make at home.

There are too many to choose from!! I love lots of Japanese foods! Living in Japan means I can try practically anything I want..!
; )
But if I HAVE to choose, it would either be modern-yaki (yaki-soba with okonimi-yaki on top, tonkatsu sauce etc!) or it would be tenpura ... tendon too! I love food too much, it's why I'm so FAT!!! But what about the tonkatsu ...!!??!! The inari-zushi?!?

If you find a Japanese restaurant that serves chawan mushi, try it. Its an egg custard in broth with shitake, veges and sometimes shrimp or chicken, steamed in a water bath. It is simply delish!
Another favorite is unagi-broiled eel over rice or in sushi with avocado.
