We live in the country & everything's pretty far apart. We don't want to have our wedding inside at the reception site, and are trying to choose where to hold the ceremony. I found a lovely place that will have both outdoor & indoor facilities (should it rain), with a fantastic view of the ocean, the causeway, the bridge and islands, but it's about a 25-minute (scenic) drive. Is this asking too much of the guests?

It is your wedding and you can plan it as you wish. The distance is a little long for the average reception place, but as you said it is a scenic route. The guest will be kind and not make a fuss about it so you shouldn't worry. Just make sure you have something at the reception that will instantly relieve any boredom they may have accrued on the drive over. Congratulations and best wishes to your wedding!

Personally, I like weddings where the ceremony and reception are at the same place - that's what we did for our wedding and it was great. I think people really appreciate only having to drive to one location. I would say anything more then 10 minutes is inconvenient.

Not at all. Keep in mind that if you were in a major city, with traffic congestion you're likely to be a 20 - 30 minute drive between ceremony and reception locations anyway.

A 25 minute drive is nothing. Enjoy your day and try not to stress too much about the guests. Presumably they are coming for you and your fiancee and to be witnesses to your union. Getting fed and entertained is just a bonus. This is an important day for you and I don't think anyone who cares about you will complain about 12 lousy miles (esp. when they see the beautiful spot you've described in your question). It sounds absolutely magical! Best wishes!

I don't think 12 miles is that far. Besides if they really want to celebrate with you they won't mind the drive.

It really depends on how many guests there are and if they are willing to drive. I would ask them if they think it's ok because ultimately, it's up to them!

For me, it depends on the person and how close to them I am.

It is like the distance between the moon and the planet earth, when the rocket is launched.

As long as you provide the guests with clear and simple directions, they should not mind.
