Plain soy milk isn't so good, but the vanilla and the melon taste are really good. The chocolate one isn't too bad.

Try the almond milk too.

I've never tried egg substitutes.

Soy milk is an acquired taste. it has a weird thick texture and tastes like plant. Which is why i definitely wouldn't reccomend plain soy milk, and most supermarkets usually only sell the vanilla or chocolate kinds anyway.

A few people i know love the stuff, and i think the quality varies by the brand. I had Vanilla silk soymilk a while back and thought it was awful, but then a friend made me a smoothie with some 8th continent soymilk and it tasted great. the only way to know is to go out and try them.

As for the eggs, If you love your eggs scrambled, you won't miss real eggs too much.

I wouldn't say soy milk tastes bad (in fact, I'd say it tastes good!) but it definitely doesn't taste like cow milk. That said, there are of varieties of soy milk; some are sweeter, some are nuttier, some are richer, and so on. Get some small sizes and do taste tests until you find one really like. I think that Chocolate Rice Dream comes the closest to tasting like (ahem) real chocolate milk, but it's full of added sweeteners. I don't like Silk, but I know people who will use nothing but.

If you use egg substitute to make a cake, you probably won't taste any difference.

There are many different brands and styles of soy milk--some taste pretty bad, but others are good. If you expect soy milk to taste EXACTLY like milk, it doesn't. But what's wrong with that--it isn't milk! Personally, I find Silk brand to be very good and the one that people who are switching to soy milk find easy to accept. The chocolate is very good if you're a chocolate fan. Vanilla soy milk is good in cereal and for drinking--also great for making shakes with blended strawberries and bananas. Sorry, no experience with egg substitutes.

well soy milk is actually good. it tastes a bit like granola if you put cereal in it but its pretty good. there are egg substitutes out there im not sure what they are called thouhg. oh yeah and also with the soy milk thing...don't give up... theres a brand called Silk thats pretty good..the chocolate silk is very tastey. then theres vanilla silk... its great too... then theres original which is supposed to be regular miilk... well its good but doesn't taste liek regular milk. BUT if you don't like silk for any reason then try a different brand...theres 8th continent soy milk i think they haev flavors and that brand is DELISH. then if you totally hate soy milk try rice milk. but yeah soy milk is good and the chocolate soy milk is amazingly good. soy milk tastes kinda like regular milk but dip in a granola bar and mix it up. its not chunky it just has a kinda granola bar taste which isn't bad. being a vegan and totally giving up milk is easy bc soy milk is so good. go for it.

Plain soy milk isn't so great, but the vanilla one is really good. The chocolate one isn't too bad. I've never tried egg substitutes tho. One thing is for sure...soy yogurt is horrible. Try the rice milks if you don't care for the soy ones.

Soy milk tastes different depending on the brand. I like almond milk and rice milk, especially carob-flavored, but it definitely does not taste like regular milk.

If you want to drink soy milk straight, vanilla or chocolate are fine choices. Each brand tastes different than the others so you will have to try a few. Drink them cold. Someone I know said she didn't like soymilk until she realized she wanted to replace cows milk and she needed to try the plain soymilk. Vanilla and chocolate are loaded with sugar, and thus aren't anything like cows milk. Silk brand seems less beany flavored to me than other brands. For egg substitutes, egg beaters and other little cartons of eggs are made of egg whites with colors added to look like scrambled eggs with yolks. Their market is people trying to lower fat and cholesterol in the diet. Vegans turn to tofu to make mock scrambled eggs. Try http://www.vegsource.com/ for answers to your questions. My best source for recipes is: http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=recipes It has a "printer friendly" option on the recipes so when you want to print it out it fits the paper better. Best of luck.
