One of the advantages is that it's pretty natural, and it tastes good.
However, I would utilise it to it's fullest potential by using it in South Asian cooking, or whatever else that happens to work.

This is because ghee isn't supposed to be slathered over like a butter nor is it suitable for short cooking times. Ghee is best in cooking where the ingredients are cooked long enough for the ghee and it's texture/taste to be absorbed into them to create an aromatic smell and taste to the food.

It's also pretty fattening, as opposed to olive oil, which is healthier than ghee.
Other than that, go ahead and use it in whatever you wish.

Ghee is really great for a lot of reasons - it tastes delicious, and it's safer to use than olive oil if you'll be cooking at high temperatures, as the smoking point is higher. The fat content is not so great, but it is definitely the best thing to use for lots of recipes.

As well as all the other answers below (taste, aroma, cholesterol, blah, blah, blah), ghee cooks at a much higher temperature than normal oil. Essentially, ghee is refined oil, and has the ability to cook for longer at a higher temperature without burning - a must for many indian recipes.

Enjoy.

I love ghee, so I'll go for it. The aroma, the taste, makes better home-cooked meal.

Everyone's right about the high cholesterol but when you exercise consistently, take proper supplements, you'll be fine.

Don't take too much of butter ghee though.

While cooking Olive oil at high temperature the non saturated fats will convert into saturated fat which is not good for health.
For hot cooking butter ghee is better.

Ghee tastes good. I use it when cooking West Indian dishes. I would not use it when cooking Mediterranean dishes.

I'm not sure what the advantages are. Possibly burning points. Consistency.

ghee tastes better. And will help keep your diet balanced as it does contain animal fat and protein (less protein than butter though).
The best part is if you eat ghee it will stop you from being vegan. Which is better for you and the environment because vegans are annoying and lame.
