I don't get it. Some people on this forum believe that you can't truly be an animal lover if you eat meat. However, I eat meat and I love animals. I love animals SO much that I went down to new orleans to save them.. twice. But no, I don't qualify as a TRUE animal lover because I eat chicken. GOD FORBID I EAT CHICKEN BECAUSE ITS GOOD FOR ME.. but no.. I'm responsibly for many lives saved but I'm just not true animal lover material.. these people need to get lives and stop preaching to others. To each his own, I say!

If you save animals what do you save them for? If you saw a sick chicken what would you do, save it then eat it.
This debate is getting to the point of ridiculous. I dont eat meat but you can, the choice is yours.
Stop criticising when you really make no sense. Your argument is hypocritical.

Sure, you love animals. I don't doubt that. But you draw the line at cats & dogs and forget that chickens and other animals have just as much right to not be tortured and to not feel pain for our pleasure (consumption of meat). Good for you for helping the rescuers in New Orleans, I commend you on that, but you can't forget that they aren't the only ones living a terrible life.

"these people need to get lives and stop preaching to others." Then, you need to stop declaring that you love all animals, but then have them slaughtered for your pleasure. You can't claim to love all animals in one breath and then look away while others are being butchered alive, simply for your enjoyment. By wearing your heart on your sleeve and taking a stand on your status as an animal lover, people are going to question you and call you on your hypocrisies. Better to accept it - we are human and not perfect. We are all hypocrites. To not admit that fallacy is simply denial.

Keep up the good work on helping what you can. It's more than most people do and you should be proud of being willing to help.

Ever hear of stereotypes? You can't say all vegan and vegetarians don't make sense, you haven't met them all. I say your food choices are your choice. I won't let anyone make that choice for me, that is why I am a vegan. It is a very difficult lifestyle so it requires lots of discipline and dedication. I love being vegan not because I am an animal lover (although I am) but because I know it is better for my body and the environment. It may not be better for your body. It doesn't work for some people. IT IS YOUR CHOICE! Let me speak for all vegans when I say I am sorry if you have been attacked for your choices, it is not right or OK.

Ah..you must be talking about me!

As stated, if you really knew what went on in the industry, you can't label yourself as an animal lover. Are you out saving the lambs and calves from being slaughtered too? Are you freeing the chickens that are so crowded together they can't move?

Did you know of the practice of chickens having their beaks removed so they cant peck at eachother in those tight quarters before slaughter?

vegetarians and vegans (those who eat that way for animal cruelty reasons) usually know a lot about how animals are treated before they end up on your plate. once you know what they know, it makes sense to reason that anyone who loves animals would not contribute to the meat industry.

they're not trying to be rude to you, they're just sensitive of the suffering of the animals. this little video might explain it a little better. if you can't stand to watch that suffering, the second link has some info on animals too.

krys (above) is exactly right..I agree 100% with everything she said, couldn't have said it better myself.

I also feel this way to an extent because of the torture animals go through just so we can eat them. It isn't fair that they should have to be treated like that or killed for us just because we can't use the alternatives available.
It is selfish actually.

How about going to this website:

and this one:

and watch these videos to see what YOU are contributing too....

I bet you won't do it.

To The Asker: Did you say that you eat chicken and it is good for you? haha I know you were being sarcastic, right?

I became vegan when I discovered approximately production facility farming. i think as though we are called to look after the Earth with which God blessed us and that i felt as though by eating animals and animal products from unknown components, i became no longer doing that. This has been seven years. I nevertheless have leather-based loafers and a wool mixture sweater that i offered forward of starting to be to be vegan. i became raised to be less expensive. i offered the penny loafers at a consignment save for no greater beneficial than $5 ten years in the past. they are Bass footwear so as that they are of good high quality. the interior sole is powerful and robust and that i can positioned on them without socks. classic sort that could desire to final me something of my existence. Why could desire to I waste funds on footwear if I already have a good pair? (particular, i could desire to donate them, yet i in my opinion can not take care of to pay for brand spanking new footwear and don't see the could desire to get them.) an identical with the sweater-- it is a sweater vest with an argyle layout. back, classic sort. I even have an angora mixture sweater that I have been given from my sister-in-regulation while she became dealing with her previous clothing. i did no longer even pay for that one. i do no longer positioned on the sweaters many times because of the fact they are hand wash purely. (Hand wash purely and dry sparkling purely are actually not useful to have with a 5- and a 2-12 months-previous.) on the different hand, if somebody is adamant with my option to proceed to positioned on my leather-based footwear, i'm going to ask them in the event that they decide for to purchase me new footwear.

Like I always say to vegetarians and vegans:

"There's a place for all of Mother Nature's creatures; right next to the potato salad".
