My boyfriend is really cheap. It doesn’t pay for me when we go to the movies or my drinks. He even tries making me pay for his drinks (and I have once or twice.)

The day before my birthday, he told me that he was going to take me out the day after my bday for a late birthday dinner. When I asked where we were going, he told me one of my favorite diners. Yesterday it was my birthday, and he visited me. He didn’t bring me a physical present to open. He also changed plans with me and told me we were going to a bar and grill instead.

I’m a little confused. Shouldn’t he have bought me a present? And why did he change the restaurant?
