Child with a blanket warm
Pressed against her cheek
A symbol of a mother gone
A father she will seek
A family torn from beds so kept
Their dog soft swept away
A young kiss stained his lonely cheek
Gone so fast this day
A hope fueled by her tender youth
As she stared from inside
Helpers galore she worked with
Her parents, she must find
The wind will never slow her
It already stole her house
The waters high and scary
Structures tossed about
Maybe she will find them
One sunny, sunny day
And maybe Mini, too
She can only pray
Her hands folded neatly
Heart hushed and begging God
I want my family back
I don't know what I've done wrong
I'll bring you home He said
Clear as the world was not
She took his hand that day
Her tears just dry dots
A revolution shook her
A new hope spread without
With all the Red Cross Workers and God
Surely life would work out.
