Complex question about PHP variables - try it?

If i declare a variable near the top of the php script
e.g. $

tony = "";
echo $tony;

The variable $tony is now set to the value of nothing and echos nothing.

Would it be possible to set this variable again from the bottom of the script (after it had been set to nothing) and set it to something else e.g.
$tony = "pig";
Well i know that can be done but is there a way so that when it has been changed for the second time the first echo (that used to echo nothing) echos 'pig' instead?

It's hard to explain hope you get me.

From VS 2005 connection to Sql server DB?

Can anybody advise me what is the best way to keep the connection strings. Is it good practice to keep in web.config file.
in tag. and what is SqlConnectionStringBuilder can i connect from here also.
also there is database class and DatabaseFactory. and then you can connect to DB from Visual Studio database connection wizard and also you can you IBATIS to connect. I am so confused what is the right way to connect.

Why can't Microsoft programmers learn what a progress bar really means?

100% complete does not mean wrap around to 0%!

I'm so tired of Microsoft installers that have a progress bar that fills up only to have it roll over again and again never knowing how long it will take to install something.

Visual Studio 2005 SP1 is a prime example of this BS.

Also, when I tell Microsoft to install something on an auxilliary disk drive (not my system disk) like Visual Studio... only to have it fill up my system disk... this kind of defeats the purpose of installing software onto another disk.

How can I tell if someone has placed "embedded" or otherwise "hidden" code in pages I place on our website?

We are having "someone" place code in our pages that does what "we don't know", except at one time we did find that "someone" had changed the html tag at the end of our url to "PHP" what ever that is, but it did stop people from getting to our page. And, we have caught them placing code that does not show up when we bring up our page in WordPad, but does show up when we have it on the internet, and look at VIEW - PAGE SOURCE. Some in the middle of our text, and a lot at the very bottom.

Any help will be sincerely apreciated.

I am no longer able to copy and paste text from an email to a Word document. What should I do?

I used to be able to copy and paste text from emails into a Word document, saving re-typing and minimizing errors. Now the hourglass remains on the Word screen until I re-start Word. I use MS Word 2003 and the basic Yahoo E-mail (no upgrades).
